I just got back from a few magical days in Sevilla with girlfriends old and new. Rather than attend London Fashion Week, I decided to attend the flamenco festival that happens every two years in Sevilla instead, the Bienal. So no London Fashion Week coverage from me this time around. My soul needs feeding from other sources and the flamenco shows, sights and sounds I've managed to digest in my short time in this hauntingly beautiful city were truly inspiring. As much as I love fashion, oranges are not the only fruit.
Your pictures are stunning! Did you get any shots of the flamenco dancers? If so, I hope you'll be posting them!
ReplyDeletemmmm...absolutely dreamy! That first photo just expresses perfectly that vertigo moment, when you're surrounded by the patina of history , just barely blinded by a foreign sun. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteThese are soul-stirring photos, V - glad your trip was uplifting!
ReplyDeleteI don't blame you. I'd definitely choose Spain over London Fashion Week or any fashion week (except maybe Paris Couture).
ReplyDeleteI love your photos!

Hoe gorgeous Seville looks, I'd love to go and bask in that glorious sunshine and spectacular architecture.
ReplyDeleteI don't get fashion week, I didn't particularly enjoy it when I went and find commenting on the posts of bloggers I like and admire incredibly hard. I'd much rather lust over stunning travel photos, they are far more inspiring than unaffordable clothes. x
I'm with you both!! As much as I love clothes, I'd drop everything to go to a beautiful place like this. Now I know where my next destination must be. I'm in love.
DeleteThere is so much visual history in your country. In a relatively young country, we do not have such beautiful buildings. Thank you for sharing your sights with us.
ReplyDeleteSuch rich architecture! The effects of time are evident, rendering these old buildings even more beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI could not care less about fashion week - but time away with friends at such a beautiful place - YES PLEASE! Sarah xxx
ReplyDeleteYou seem to be perpetually traveling -- that's terrific! And I totally understand your need for flamenco's rich rhythms, percussive movement, and soul-ripping vocals. I just came from ballet class today and was thinking as I was driving home, I never feel more alive, more myself, than when I have just exerted myself in dance.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of Sevilla. Someday, I would love to see it and experience the music and dance as you have. -- J xx
Breathtaking. I want to vist Sevilla so badly. I would have chosen the flamenco festival over fashion week in a heartbeat. Years ago in undergrad Spanish class, I did a presentation on Sevilla and the flamenco culture. Your pictures are so magnificent, I almost feel like I could step into them.
ReplyDeleteI'd choose Seville over fashion week, any day! It's such a beautiful city - and probably not so unbearably hot at this time of year. We were there in August a couple of years ago & it was stifling, we could barely walk down the street.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good choice - especially if you saw any of the clothes from the London runway!!! No really. So whenever any big event happens in London, that's you cue to get out of town. My kinda gal.
ReplyDeleteI didn't go to LFW this yr. becasue of work. I'll say Seville is far better to see over here and full of inspiration, so you did well. I really love these stunning captures ... I just want to go there now!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy fashion a great deal, but Seville and flamenco would win over LFW any time! And I bet there was some stunning fashion for you there too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! You are continuing to inspire me with your talk of flamenco and how it affects you. It will be in my future as soon as my life settles a bit.
ReplyDeletePensé en tí cuando supe del festival de flamenco.
ReplyDeleteVIVA SEVILLA!!!
Mil besos artista!!!

I love these pictures. I think you made the right choice, skipping LFW in favor of this! You are so lucky, you have done some wonderful traveling, thank you for sharing pictures for those of us that aren't going to Spain anytime soon! If you have time, would you like to join Adrienne and me for 'How I Wear My: Burgundy and Bordeaux?' I'm hosting this time so you can send a picture to me by Oct. 1 if you want. We'd love to have you! XO, Jill
